Zambia is a land locked country situated in the heart of the African sub-continent with a population of about 12 million. Zambia has nine provinces and 72 districts. Lusaka is Zambia’s official capitol, but Livingstone is known as the tourist capital of Zambia as it is home to the spectacular Victoria Falls, one of the world’s seven natural wonders. Docsek Home is located in Mazabuka, which is in the Southern Province of Zambia. Also in Mazabuka is one of the largest sugar plantations in Africa, Nakambala Sugar Estates. Much of Zambia remains desperately poor with GNP per capita about $400 a year. English is one of Zambia’s eight official languages, due to its former status as a British colony. English is the language most often spoken in schools, on the radio, in government offices, etc.
