We are blessed with wonderful and beautiful children. Unique and remarkable, they all bring something special to Docsek Home. Knowing the burdens of life, they are grateful to be able to pursue their dreams and meet their educational goals. Generally, they enjoy helping with household chores, learning, reading, art projects and attending Sunday School. Despite the individual hardships that they've all faced, they look at life with bright and smiling eyes.

Half of the Church Praise Team is made up of Docsek Children with Mwango doing some drumming, Sherry, Catherine and Matthew on vocals and Billy dancing.

The child sponsorship program is a monthly donation of $30, which goes towards the care of your sponsored child. It takes ten sponsors each donating $30 per month to meet the needs of one child.   For more information on how to sponsor a child, please visit our How To Help page.

LindaLinda
D.O.B: September 17, 1996

Linda was born on September 17th, 1996. She was admitted to Docsek on October 16th. Linda has lost her father but her mother is still living. Before admission, she was living with her grandparents. However, due to age and infirmity, her grandparents were no longer able to meet the needs of their growing grandchild. Due to the financial hardships that Linda's guardians faced, she was unable to continue her term at school. Generally, in cases such as this, the children lose hope of ever being able to continue with their studies. Fortunately, Docsek Home was able to step in and aid Linda in continuing her studies as well as providing the care that her guardians became physically and financially unable to provide.

Linda is humble, well behaved and always smiling with the most adorable dimples you could ever find!   She loves school and is the Journalist of Docsek as she loves reading and writing.  When asked what her dream is she replies, "Journalist!".  Indeed, she is able to report incidents with great accuracy!

GiftGift
D.O.B: June 15, 1987

Gift was born on June 15th, 1987. He was admitted to Docsek on May 5th, 2004. He is a double orphan, meaning that he has lost both parents. As a result of losing both of his parents, Gift was forced to quit school and find a trade and a means to raise money for himself and his grandmother. In childhood, he became the sole provider for himself and his grandmother. Gift learned to carve wood sculptures and sold his beautiful wood carvings to raise money. You can see images of his work in the photo gallery. Gift is now sharing his talents with the other children at the center and teaching them his craft.

When Gift arrived at Docsek Home he was suffering from illness. He had allergies to many common foods and needed treatment. After admission, his health improved dramatically and he is currently finishing his last year of high school! In an interview with The Times of Zambia (Mazabuka Office), Gift described the positive impact that Docsek Home has made in his life. He said, "I never thought that my dream of completing school will come to pass. I thank my new mother and father (Tabitha and Shern) for what they have done for me, especially taking me to school until I complete."   Since graduation, Gift is attending college  in computer studies, thanks to generous donations.   He will need more financial help to reach his dream of completing college.

MutinaMutinta

Mutinta was born on July 1st, 1993. She was admitted to Docsek on January 3rd, 2004. She was found to be in a vulnerable and undesirable situation in the village of Mukuni, where she was living with her grandparent.

Mutinta loves school. Her hobbies include dancing, studying, singing and reading. She says that she is so happy to be at Docsek because she has found everything that a child needs--care, love, security, and encouragement in social, spiritual and moral education. In an interview of Mutinta conducted by Kozi, a journalist from Radio Mazabuka, she said, "I am happy to be here because I know my dream of becoming a nurse will come to pass. I feel these are my real parents. They give me what I want, care for me, take me to school, love me and all that is found within a family. I love them and may God bless them."

Mutinta is a very sweet and humble young lady.  She sings soprano. Mutinta is always ready and willing to help and she is a great addition to the family at Docsek.

JoshuaJoshua
D.O.B: February 16, 2005

Joshua is our smallest child and was born on February 25th, 2005. He was admitted to Docsek on November 1st, 2005. Joshua has suffered the loss of both parents, but has found new ones at Docsek. His father died before he was born and his mother died 7 months after his birth. Joshua was admitted to Docsek on the day of his mother's death as there were no family members that were able to care for him. Only one relative was located (his grandmother) and it was determined that she would not be able to provide the care, milk and porridge that a growing baby needs for survival.

Joshua has grown into a strong and healthy boy who likes to run and play. He is the the joy of the house.  He has started school and likes to be the leader in all activities.

Mathew was born on June 25th, 1993 and was admitted to Docsek on October 3rd, 2005. He is a single orphan with his mother still living. Due to a disability that his mother has, she was unable to take him to school. He reached the age of twelve without ever having spent a day in the classroom. As he watched his friends head off to school, he experienced a great deal of pain and loneliness as he too wanted to attend class with his peers. Docsek was able to step in and make this dream possible. He has worked hard despite the fact that he began school at age twelve with no prior formal education.  He is very happy to be in school.

Mathew is extremely active, hardworking and loyal. Another comdedian of the house, he is always ready with a joke and livens up any conversation. He enjoys watering the garden and is a capable athlete. Cycling his his favorite sport.

Matthew is the technician of the home. He can repair anything in the house, even things that I do not know. Talents and skills like this can go far. He sings bass and has a bigger voice than even Pastor Shern!

Catherine

Catherine
D.O.B: May 8, 1996

Catherine, another pretty angel, was born on May 8th,1996. She was admitted to Docsek on November 14th, 2005. Before Catherine was two years old, her mother and father divorced. Her mother then left Catherine and her father and has not been heard from since. Unfortunately, her father died and the only relative left to care for Catherine was her grandmother who, due to infirmity, was unable to provide the necessities that a growing girl needs. Fortunately, Docsek was able to step in and help Catherine.

Catherine is a responsible and hardworking girl. She enjoys helping out with the household chores, particularly washing dishes. She is an avid reader and loves to sing. Her sweet soprano voice brings warmth and joy to Docsek.  She leads singing in Sunday School and very soon we will be recording some of the songs that the children have been singing.

Charity has an extroverted nature and is another comedian of the home. Of all the children, she likes reading the most. Charity also enjoys writing, drawing and painting. She is a very active girl with lots of energy, always running about the house. She is responsible and helpful with the household chores and most especially likes washing clothes. She enjoys going to school so much that she has often been found crying when the weekend arrives.

SherrySherry
D.O.B: November 8, 1990

Sherry was admitted to Docsek on August 25th, 2005. She was born on November 8th, 1990.

Sherry is very responsible and is enjoying school more and more.  She loves cooking, playing with pets and singing.

JoelJoel
D.O.B: 01/03/94

Joel was found living with a widowed Auntie. After her husband died, Joel's Aunt was caring for five of her own children along with Joel. She struggled to care for herself and all the children alone. They spent days without food. We discovered the seriousness of the situation during our visitations. We found Joel's Auntie ill and discovered that Joel was out selling in the streets to find money for food for his struggling family. Docsek stepped in to offer refuge to Joel and to help lessen his Aunt's burden.

Joel is a boy who is quiet but always smiling. Joel’s quietness seems to be related to the deep psychological and emotional wounds that he has suffered during his early life. We believe that we have helped this boy feel loved. Joel loves sports (football), hide and seek games and likes Sunday school. He is still quite introverted but Matthew keeps him busy with his jokes.

Joel likes encouraging friends to be good children hence his nickname, 'Pastor'. The boy prays alot and he is well disciplined.

MwangoMwango
D.O.B. 15 years old

Mwango is one of the latest children to enter the Docsek family. While his mother is living, she is unable to care for him.

Mwango is likely to be the best drummer in Mazabuka.  This boy has won himself a trip to South Africa to stay at Creare Ministries and learn professional drumming for free!

He is at the top of his class in school.

AbigailAbigail
D.O.B. 01/18/02

The flower of Docsek was found in a compound with a poor widow whose husband had died when Abigail was still a small baby. We met Abigail and saw that she looked active, but she had no hope for a future because her mother had signs of having  AIDS. The innocent child knew nothing but depended on this woman, who could not do anything to meet her needs because she was so sickly.

This beautiful girl is so innovative because she is so active. She likes to play house and likes to act like a mother. We can see that she has a very caring heart and will be an excellent mother when she grows up. She likes "girly" things. We know this because we have given her things that she doesn't like and she cries. She is generally a very good girl.

BillyBilly
D.O.B.

Billy was staying with this gaurdian who never took care of him, could not give him food and left him on the streets to beg. We got a report from a concerned community citizen who saw this boy wondering about. Upon getting the report, we decided to make a follow up to see Billy. After seeing his condition, we temporarily admitted him to Docsek Home, and are now happy to report that he is permanently admitted.

Billy is a very active boy and a good dancer and singer. When he begins to dance, you can laugh and laugh until you get tired.
